••• President inaugurates new appointees ahead of first Federal Executive Council meeting in over two months
President Bola Tinubu on Monday swore in two new Federal Commissioners of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) and six Federal Commissioners of the National Population Commission (NPC) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The inauguration ceremony took place at the Council Chamber shortly before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by the President.
The newly inaugurated RMAFC commissioners are Amina Ibrahim Gamawa, representing Bauchi State, and Abdullahi Mukhtar Mohammed, representing Kaduna State and former Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
President Tinubu also administered the oath of office to six commissioners of the National Population Commission.
They include Kolawole Oladipupo Alabi (Ekiti), Nasiru Mu’azu (Zamfara), Isaka Alada Yahaya (Kwara), Prof. Sadiq Isah Radda (Katsina), Suleiman Umar (Jigawa) and Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo (Sokoto).
The appointments are expected to strengthen the capacity of the two commissions in carrying out their constitutional responsibilities.
While the RMAFC oversees revenue mobilisation, allocation and fiscal matters among the three tiers of government, the NPC is responsible for population data management, demographic planning and the conduct of national censuses.
The swearing-in ceremony was witnessed by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, cabinet ministers and other senior government officials.
Following the inauguration, President Tinubu presided over the Federal Executive Council meeting, the first in over two months, during which ministers considered several policy proposals and infrastructure projects aimed at advancing the administration’s development agenda.
