Operatives of the Mowe Division of the Ogun State Police Command have dismantled an illegal “baby factory” operating at Abaren Village in Mowe, resulting in the rescue of two heavily pregnant women, four children, and the arrest of six suspects.
Acting on sustained intelligence, police officers raided the hideout located at Toluwalase Street on August 24, 2026, uncovering a systematic human trafficking and illegal adoption network.
Those taken into custody include Florence Glory Ogbona (58), Magdalene Julius (63), Chidike Egwuonwu (40), Onyechu Chidike (35), Stephen Ogbona (39), and an attending nurse, Oseni Kusamotu Idaya.
During the operation, officers safely rescued 23-year-old Ilesanmi Foluke, who is seven months pregnant, and 20-year-old Ejekwa Melody, who is eight months pregnant.
Four young children, consisting of two boys and two girls, were also recovered from the location.A follow-up operation at a local hospital in Mowe revealed that another victim, 26-year-old Blessing Bright Effiong, had given birth to a baby boy on August 20, 2026.
While Effiong was found receiving medical care, her newborn infant was missing. The attending nurse was subsequently arrested to assist in locating the child.
The case is being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran, Abeokuta, to uncover the full extent of the syndicate’s operations, locate the missing newborn, and prosecute all involved suspects.
Ogun State Commissioner of Police CP Bode Ojajuni commended the Mowe Division operatives for their swift response and reiterated the command’s commitment to eradicating human trafficking and child trading across the state.
