President Bola Tinubu has reassured Nigerians that the Federal Government is committed to securing the safe return of teachers and pupils abducted by gunmen in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The President gave the assurance during the commissioning of the remodelled Premier Hotel in Ibadan, where he was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.
Tinubu said security agencies had been directed to intensify rescue operations using all available intelligence and operational resources to ensure the victims regain their freedom safely.
Describing the attack as unacceptable, the President reiterated his administration’s determination to end kidnapping and other violent crimes across the country. He said both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies were being deployed to rescue those in captivity and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The President also expressed sympathy with the families of the victims, particularly following reports that one of the abducted teachers was killed by the kidnappers.
The victims, comprising teachers and pupils from three schools in Oriire Local Government Area, were abducted during an attack that sparked nationwide concern over the safety of schools and communities.
Tinubu assured residents of Oyo State that the Federal Government would continue to strengthen security operations and work closely with relevant agencies until all those held captive are rescued and peace is fully restored.
