The Ogun State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the murder of veteran broadcaster and former Ogun State Television (OGTV) presenter, Mrs. Olakitan Oyesiku, and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo.
The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, disclosed the arrests during a press briefing at the Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, saying the breakthrough followed intelligence-led investigations, technical tracking and forensic analysis.
According to the police, the double murder was reported on June 21 after neighbours noticed suspicious activities at Oyesiku’s residence in the Owode-Egba area of Ogun State. Investigators also recovered a handwritten note from the crime scene and tracked the deceased’s stolen Lexus RX 330 SUV, leading to the arrest of the suspects.
The principal suspect, 22-year-old Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, a former security guard employed by the deceased, was arrested at a construction site in Ibara GRA, Abeokuta. His confession allegedly led to the arrest of two accomplices, identified as Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola, 27, and Sobu Obafunsho, 36.
Police said preliminary investigations revealed that the prime suspect recruited the others to carry out the attack, claiming he acted over grievances from his previous employment with the deceased. The suspects are expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police assured residents that the Command remains committed to bringing all perpetrators of violent crimes to justice and urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with credible information.
