The Chairman of Akure North Local Government, Hon. Ogunbolude Johnson, has commended Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and security agencies for their swift intervention in securing the release of victims recently kidnapped in the Ilu-Abo area of the council.
In a statement issued on Friday, Ogunbolude expressed appreciation to the governor for his commitment to the safety of residents, describing the successful rescue operation as a testament to the government’s determination to tackle insecurity across the state.
The council chairman also praised the collaborative efforts of the Nigerian Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigerian Army and the Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, for their prompt response, which led to the safe release of the victims.
Among those rescued was Mr. Sunny, a staff member of Akure North Local Government, who was abducted at his residence in Ilu-Abo alongside other victims.
Ogunbolude urged security agencies to sustain their proactive approach to combating crime, stressing the need for stronger synergy and intelligence sharing among the various agencies.
He warned against inter-agency rivalry, saying greater collaboration would further strengthen the fight against kidnapping and other criminal activities.
The council boss also congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the establishment of state police, expressing confidence that the initiative would enhance Nigeria’s security architecture and improve the capacity to address insecurity at the grassroots.
He reaffirmed the local government’s commitment to supporting security agencies and encouraged residents to continue providing timely and credible information that would aid efforts to rid Akure North and the state of criminal elements.
