Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting the rights of children and fostering an environment where they can thrive free from fear, bullying, or discrimination.
Speaking at the 2025 National Children’s Day celebration held at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Arcade in Akure, Governor Aiyedatiwa described the occasion as a moment of reflection and responsibility. He emphasized the importance of building a safe, inclusive society, aligning with the event’s theme, “Stand Up, Speak Up: Building a Bullying-Free Generation.”
The Governor condemned all forms of bullying and abuse, especially in schools and digital spaces, while urging collective action from parents, educators, religious and traditional leaders to promote empathy and kindness among children.
Highlighting recent initiatives, the Governor noted the payment of WAEC fees, recruitment of over 2,000 teachers, and renovation of public schools as key measures to support children’s development. He also inaugurated the 3rd Ondo State Children’s Parliament, providing a platform for young voices in governance.
Special Adviser on Women Affairs, Dr. Seun Osamaye, praised the Governor’s inclusive leadership, while traditional ruler Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye and Children’s Parliament representative Poroye Olamide commended his commitment to education and child protection.
The event featured cultural displays, competitions, and prize presentations by the Governor, drawing a large crowd of children, parents, and dignitaries across the state.
