The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally presented its governorship candidate for the 2027 election, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, and his running mate, Mrs. Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun, to the Ijebu Traditional Council at the Awujale’s Palace in Ijebu-Ode, as part of efforts to consolidate support ahead of the governorship poll.
The high powered delegation, led by Governor Dapo Abiodun and other senior party leaders, paid homage to the revered traditional institution, describing the visit as a demonstration of respect for the custodians of culture and a recognition of the vital role traditional rulers play in promoting peace, unity and development across Ogun State.
During the meeting, the APC leadership sought the prayers, blessings and support of the Awujale of Ijebuland and members of the Ijebu Traditional Council, expressing confidence that the party’s ticket represents competence, experience and continuity of the developmental strides recorded under the present administration.
Speaking at the palace, Senator Adeola reaffirmed his commitment to building an inclusive government that would accelerate infrastructure development, economic growth, youth empowerment, quality education, healthcare delivery and industrial expansion across all parts of Ogun State if elected governor.
He pledged to consolidate on the achievements of Governor Dapo Abiodun while ensuring that no part of the state would be left behind.Mrs. Adegunwa-Balogun, an accomplished chartered accountant and corporate executive, thanked the traditional rulers for receiving the delegation and assured them of her commitment to transparent, accountable and people-oriented governance.
She described her nomination as a call to greater service and promised to complement Senator Adeola’s vision for a more prosperous Ogun State.
The visit forms part of the APC’s ongoing statewide consultations with traditional institutions, community leaders and other stakeholders as the party intensifies preparations for the 2027 governorship election, with the leadership expressing optimism that the royal fathers’ blessings and the support of the people would translate into electoral victory.
