Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have dismantled an international drug trafficking syndicate, arresting its kingpin, Afolabi Kazeem Michael, popular on social media as “KC Luxury.”
Briefing journalists in Lagos, NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), disclosed that the suspect was intercepted on August 13, 2026, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport while attempting to board a business-class flight to Paris. Foreign currencies, including €7,750, £2,800, and N100,000, along with high-end luxury items, were confiscated from him during the arrest.
The operation led to the recovery of 184.50 kilograms of high-grade cocaine valued at N39 billion (approximately $27.7 million). The consignment, intercepted through a local courier company, stands as the largest single cocaine seizure recorded via a courier service in the agency’s history.
Investigators revealed that Michael posed as a legitimate businessman dealing in real estate, gold, and luxury goods to mask his involvement in moving narcotics across Nigeria, the United Kingdom, Europe, and Asia. A key associate and logistics staff member, Lawal Mujab Kehinde, was also arrested for facilitating the shipping and processing of the illicit consignments.
Gen. Marwa reaffirmed that the NDLEA will continue to target high-profile drug kingpins and dismantle transnational syndicates operating within and outside the country.
