The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a suspect, Samuel Akoade, over the alleged murder of a 60-year-old woman, Mrs. Olufunke Amoo, in Ore, located in the Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The incident was reported to the authorities on Sunday, August 16, 2026, after the victim was discovered lying in a pool of blood at her residence. Preliminary findings indicated that she had died from deep machete wounds prior to being found.
In response to the report, officers from the Ore Division visited and secured the crime scene. During the initial investigation, police recovered a machete believed to have been used in the attack, along with other forensic evidence.
Although the suspect initially fled the area, sustained operational efforts by the police led to his eventual apprehension and custody.
The victim’s body has been moved to the mortuary, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Akure for further investigation.
Ondo State Commissioner of Police, CP Felix N. Ohagwu, has ordered a thorough inquiry into the incident, assuring the public of the command’s commitment to maintaining law and order while urging residents to report suspicious activities promptly.
