The Executive Chairman of Akure North Local Government, Hon. Johnson Ogunbolude, has applauded Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, following the commissioning of the 5.5-kilometre Igoba–Shasha Road, describing it as a major milestone in infrastructure development and economic growth.
Residents of Igoba and Shasha communities were in a celebratory mood on Thursday as the long-awaited road was officially inaugurated, ending years of transportation challenges in the area.
The road project is expected to boost economic activities by improving movement of people, goods, and services, while enhancing connectivity between communities in Akure North and other parts of Ondo State.
Speaking during the commissioning, Ogunbolude described the project as a fulfillment of the Governor’s promise under his administration’s development agenda, noting that the road would bring lasting socio-economic benefits to the people.
“This project is a historic achievement for our people. It will not only ease transportation but also promote trade, attract investors, and improve the standard of living of residents,” he said.
The council chairman also appealed to the state government to improve electricity supply in the affected communities, stressing that rapid population growth and increasing development have created an urgent need for stable power supply.
Residents expressed optimism that the new road would open up the area for further development and enhance economic opportunities for the people.
