Ondo State has lost one of its prominent political and agricultural development figures. Dr. Victor Ayodeji Oritedi, a former governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), passed away on Tuesday evening at a hospital after a brief illness. He was 50.
A statement from his media associate, David Aladesanmi, mourned his passing:

Dr. Oritedi had earlier demonstrated political magnanimity when he stepped down in March 2024 for Chief Olusola Oke, one of the APC aspirants for the November 2024 governorship election. He also merged his campaign structure into the Olusola Oke Campaign Organisation (OOCA), supporting Oke’s political ambition.
Beyond politics, Dr. Oritedi was a globally recognized business development specialist and an accomplished agribusiness professional.
He was widely respected for his contributions to agricultural development in Nigeria and played a pivotal role in capacity building for MSMEs and stakeholders in the agricultural sector through his work with USAID FTF Nigeria Agricultural Extension and Advisory Services, implemented by Winrock International.
Dr. Oritedi’s death marks the loss of a visionary leader whose contributions spanned both political and professional spheres.
