The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared Governor Ademola Adeleke the winner of the August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election. Adeleke secured a fresh four-year term after polling 511,067 votes to defeat his primary challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 444,815 votes.
Reacting to the official declaration in Osogbo, human rights lawyer and spokesperson for the Imole Campaign Council, Pelumi Olajengbesi, described the result as a triumph of the people’s mandate.
In a statement issued after the announcement, Olajengbesi said, “I am super excited. This is the Lord’s doing; this is the manifestation of God’s hand; this is the will of the people of Osun State. I am glad because this election has clearly shown that Governor Ademola Adeleke is the man of the people.”
The election, which saw participation across all 30 local government areas, concludes a highly competitive campaign period in the state.
Electoral observers noted that despite minor technical challenges at various polling units, voting proceeded smoothly to its final collation and announcement.
Supporters of the administration have since taken to the streets across major towns in Osun State to celebrate the re-election victory.
