In a major political shift, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has formally left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The announcement was made on Tuesday at a stakeholders’ meeting held at Government House, Port Harcourt.
Fubara declared that the defection reflects his commitment to stability and effective governance. He said aligning with the APC offers a better platform to mobilise resources and deliver development to Rivers people.
The move comes amid a wave of realignments in Rivers State politics: several lawmakers previously left PDP for APC, shifting the power dynamics in the state’s House of Assembly.
