Over 30 students across 8 schools in the state have been Awarded scholarships by the Bamiwo Scholarship Foundation.
The 3rd edition of Bamiwo scholarship foundation which took place on Friday, 26th of September 2025 held at St. Monica girls’ grammar school hall in Ondo West LGA, Ondo State.
The school that benefited from the scheme includes St. Monica’s grammar school Ondo, St. Louis girls secondary school Ondo, St. James catholic grammar school Ondo, Graceland Nursery/ Primary School Ondo, St. Andrews Anglican grammar school Ondo, Ondo boys high school Ondo, St. Stephens’ Anglican Secondary School Ondo, Ondo grammar school Ondo.
Meanwhile, In his opening speech online, the Chairman of Bamiwo Scholarship Foundation, Engineer Oluwaseyi Fadamiro acknowledged the program coordinators, Dr. David Ayodeji and Mr. Ajayi Cornelius Bamikole for their tireless work and coordination which made the program transparent and inspiring.
To the students, he said “education is a ladder, it will test your strength but every step you take higher and closer to your dreams, work with courage, climb with faith, and know that we families, schools, and this foundation believes in you and together we are not just building schools, we are building generations of leaders who will uplift communities, honor culture and shape a brighter tomorrow.
On behalf of Bamiwo foundation, I congratulate all 2025 awardees, may this honor inspire you to climb higher, dream bigger and never stop believing in the power of your potential”.
In the same vein, the Co-founder, Bamiwo scholarship foundation, Professor Henry Fadamiro, also encouraged the students to put in their best as they have been granted a gift of scholarship. He also made known to the students the relevance of prioritizing education.
Highlights of the event included the speech of the Commissioner of Education Professor Ajibefun Igbekele who was represented by Mrs. A.O Ebitanmi who stated that ‘the scholarship award ceremony is a testament of our commitment to nurturing academic talent and academic excellence in our society and to the awardees.
The Commissioner extends his warmth congratulation as he said, “your hard work and education has paid off and this award is a proof to your potential, I want to encourage you to continue striving for excellence and making use of the opportunity “.
The former and retired school principal of CAC Grammar School Oka, Elder A. S Adegoke also described the event as ‘a celebration of possibility’ because the number of beneficiaries increases yearly. He also appreciated the foundation and encourage other people to support the good gesture by helping other students.
He further emphasized to the students the rare opportunity of being chosen among thousands in the town while encouraging them to do better in their education and not to let down the foundation and the community at large.
However, the Secretary of Education Service Ondo West Local Government Area, Barr. Bada Maruf Matthew in his speech admonished the students not to see the scholarship award as an ordinary achievement but a pointer to the next 15 to 20 years, as they will be one of the policy makers in Nigeria because ‘’when you are chosen among numerous people it means God has really ordain you to be a leader’’, he said.
He encouraged them to stay focus and never get involved in sexual activities at the early stage of their life as it is a distraction. He urged them to focus and see themselves as winners as they are at the beginning stages of life.
He further added that when they have a good foundation, they become solutions to the problems of the society at the later stages of their lives.
In an interview with the counselor of St. Monica’s Girls Grammar School, Mrs. Tognan Daze, she stated the importance of the scholarship award to her students, who were also part of the beneficiary this year and the previous year.
She mentioned the part when “as a counselor, you are speaking to students who have neither eaten, nor can afford textbooks or school fee. There is little or nothing you can do. But with Bamiwo foundation, such is taken away”. She appreciated and prayed for good rewards for the board.
One of the beneficiaries, Maryjoe Arinze from St. Louis Girls Secondary School Ondo, described education as the key to changing the world as the scholarship gestures helps students who face financial challenges to realize the potentials in them.
Another beneficiary, Elijah Oluwole from Ondo Boys High School Ondo, appreciated the Bamiwo Foundation on behalf of the other beneficiaries.
He prayed that God rewards them and he stated that the money will be used not only for school fees but other school expenses.
On the other hand, a parent of one of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Adejumoke Adetula appreciated the board of trustees of the Bamiwo Foundation for the support offered to the beneficiaries and she calls the scholarship a blessing while encouraging the students to make good use of the blessing and opportunity given to them.
The event, had in attendance the Commissioner of Education of the State, Prof. Ajibefun Igbekele, who was represented by the Director Zonal Teaching Service Commission Ondo, Mrs. A.O Ebitanmi, Board of trustees, Bamiwo scholarship foundation chairman, Eng. Seyi Fadamiro and Co-founder, Prof. Henry Fadamiro, the Former and Retired Principal of CAC Grammar School Oka, Ondo, Elder A.S Adegoke, the Secretary of Education Service Ondo West Barrister Bada, Parents, members of Staff among others.
Among the lineup of events was the presentation of the scholarship awards to the beneficiaries at the conclusion of the conference.
Bamiwo Foundation is a non- profit private organization dedicated to honoring the late deaconess Esther Oluwabamiwo Fadamiro with a profound appreciation for education.
The Late deaconess instilled into her family, the value of pursuing knowledge and its transformative power.
