Former Sunshine Stars FC player Suraj Ibrahim has officially bidden an emotional farewell to the Akure-based club, its management, coaching staff, teammates, and supporters following his departure to join two time CAF Champions League winners Enyimba FC of Aba.
Reflecting on his memorable stint with the Owena Whales, Ibrahim expressed deep gratitude to the Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA), the club’s board, and the backroom staff for their constant backing throughout his time in Ondo State.
In a heartfelt message to the club, Ibrahim described wearing the Sunshine Stars badge as a true honor, noting that his tenure was filled with unforgettable moments while representing a team that has produced numerous footballing legends.
“What a journey it’s been for me with this Sunshine Stars FC badge on my chest. Wow, so many lovely memories. It was an honour to represent this massive club that has produced legends called the Owena Whales.
A special thank you to the fans. The love you guys showed towards me from day one till the last day will never be forgotten in a hurry.
Sincerely, I hate to say goodbye, but it’s not in my hands but of God. I will always love this club. Goodbye.”
He extended a special appreciation to the fans, stating that the immense love and support shown to him from his first day to his last will never be forgotten. Acknowledging that saying goodbye was difficult, the player emphasized his lasting affection for the club as he prepares to embark on the next phase of his career with the Aba giants.
