The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced former Cross River State governorship candidate, Senator Sandy Ojang Onor, as its consensus presidential candidate for the 2027 general election following the conclusion of its presidential primary collation exercise in Abuja.
The announcement was made during the presentation of results by the party’s Presidential Primary Collation Committee after consultations and voice vote processes involving party stakeholders across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
According to the committee, the exercise was conducted after wide consultations within the party, leading to a consensus arrangement that produced Senator Onor as the sole presidential aspirant for the party’s ticket.
Party officials stated that the process was aimed at strengthening internal unity and positioning the PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections. The collation exercise was also observed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Following the announcement, Senator Onor was formally presented with the party’s flag and certificate of return, marking his emergence as the PDP presidential candidate.
Speaking at the event, party leaders described the development as a step toward rebuilding the party’s national strength and restoring confidence among members ahead of the elections.
Senator Sandy Onor, a former senator representing Cross River Central, is expected to begin consultations and nationwide engagements as he prepares for the general election campaign.
