Tragedy struck in Kajola, Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State as a resident, Eze Elechi Amadi, was arrested for killing his 18-year-old younger brother, Otu Ifeanyi, during a dispute over money.
Amadi was paraded alongside 99 other suspected criminals by the Ondo State Police Command in Akure. According to the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, the suspect was caught while attempting to dispose of his brother’s body, which was hidden inside a blue plastic drum.
“On 26th August, 2025 at about 3pm, one Oluwafemi Oladipupo of Paragon Street, Kajola, reported at Kajola Divisional Headquarters that he observed a blue plastic drum in front of his residence, tied with a black rope. Upon inspection, the lifeless body of one Otu Ifeanyi, aged 18 years, was discovered inside the drum. The suspect, who was conveying the drum on a motorcycle, was immediately apprehended,” Lawal stated.
The Commissioner added that Amadi confessed to killing his younger brother following a quarrel over ₦20,000, which he alleged was unlawfully transferred from his bank account.
He disclosed that the corpse has been deposited at the mortuary, while investigations continue, after which the suspect will be charged to court.
Lawal further revealed that the 100 suspects paraded were arrested for crimes ranging from murder, kidnapping, and armed robbery to cultism, drug-related offences, and theft. He commended the cooperation of residents, stressing that community vigilance has greatly supported the command’s fight against crime.
