Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has constituted a six-member Panel of Inquiry to investigate the recent communal crisis in the Ugbonla community, Ilaje Local Government Area of the state.
The move comes in response to violent clashes between Ugbo and Ugbonla communities over traditional leadership disputes, which resulted in the loss of life and destruction of property.
The panel is tasked with uncovering the remote and immediate causes of the crisis, identifying individuals or groups involved—either directly or indirectly—and recommending measures to prevent future occurrences.
Members of the panel include:
- Justice Sunday Olorundahunsi – Chairman
- Justice Orimisan Okorisa – Member
- Primate Afolabi Aboyewa – Member
- Hon. Hamidu Takuro – Member
- Barr. Yinka Orokoto – Member
- Mr. Dele Adesanmi, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs – Secretary
Governor Aiyedatiwa urged the panel to approach the assignment with integrity, impartiality, and commitment, directing that the investigation be concluded within six weeks.
He also appealed to the people of the affected communities to maintain peace and cooperate fully with the panel to ensure a successful and lasting resolution.
