The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed speculations about his health, stating that he neither collapsed nor was flown abroad for treatment. Speaking during an inspection of ongoing projects in Abuja, Wike described the rumors as baseless and the work of political detractors.
According to him, the false reports were designed to distract the public from the serious allegations made by former Rivers State Head of Service, George Nwaeke, against the suspended Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and his Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie. Nwaeke had claimed he saw Fubara handing over a bag of money to Ehie to orchestrate the destruction of the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex.
Wike emphasized that instead of addressing these weighty allegations, mischief-makers had resorted to spreading falsehoods about his health. He reassured the public that he remained strong and fully committed to his duties as Minister.
Concluding his remarks, Wike took a swipe at those wishing for his downfall. With a smirk, he said, “I will sign their condolence letter—those who wish me dead.” His defiant tone underscored his resolve to remain in the political arena, undeterred by his adversaries.
