As part of the ongoing 2024 Press Week celebrations of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ondo State Council, the state’s Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Kayode Ajulo, SAN, OON, will host journalists at the much-anticipated “Asun/Illegal Night” event on Thursday, December 12.
The gathering, set to begin at 7 p.m. at the NUJ Press Centre in Alagbaka, Akure, promises to deliver an evening of camaraderie and entertainment. The event, tagged “Illegal Night,” is sponsored by Dr. Ajulo, who is known for his strong ties to the journalism community.
In a statement issued by the Press Week Organizing Committee, the sponsorship was described as a gesture of goodwill and appreciation for the essential role journalists play in society. Several key figures are expected to join Dr. Ajulo at the event, adding to its significance.
Speaking ahead of the occasion, the State Chairman of the NUJ Council, Prince Leke Adegbite, expressed gratitude to members of the union for their active participation in the weeklong program.
“I appreciate your inimitable efforts since we started the programme,” Adegbite said, highlighting the success of prior events, including Wednesday’s health walk through major areas of Akure and the children’s party sponsored by Princess Olufunto Campbell-Oluyede, the Regent of Ayede Ogbese.
The Press Week festivities also include a novelty football match scheduled for earlier in the day, where journalists will face off against members of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Akure branch.
Tonight’s Asun/Illegal Night is expected to further strengthen the bond between journalists and stakeholders while celebrating the pivotal role of the media in promoting justice and democracy.
