In a major boost to public safety and corporate-community partnership, the Ibese land in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State on Friday marked a historic milestone with the formal handover of a newly constructed Divisional Police Headquarters.
The state-of-the-art facility was facilitated by manufacturing giant Dangote Cement Plc in collaboration with the local traditional leadership.
The handover ceremony was led by the paramount traditional ruler of the kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Rotimi Oluseyi Mulero, Olokojobi III, the Aboro of Ibese Land, alongside his Council of Chiefs, traditional Baales, community leaders, and residents who gathered to host the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni.
Speaking at the event, Oba Mulero expressed appreciation to Dangote Cement Plc for facilitating the infrastructure, noting that the modern complex will provide police officers with a conducive operational environment. The monarch stated that enhanced security presence in Ibese would boost commercial confidence and attract new investors to explore the town’s expanding economic potential.
The royal father also lauded the Ogun State Government and praised CP Ojajuni for his proactive security strategies, which he credited with significantly curbing incidents of kidnapping and banditry across the state. Charging local residents to cooperate with law enforcement through credible intelligence, Oba Mulero equally admonished police officers deployed to the facility to uphold high standards of discipline, professionalism, and respect for citizens’ fundamental human rights.
A key highlight of the event was the presentation of an Award of Honour to Oba Mulero by CP Bode Ojajuni on behalf of the Ogun State Police Command. Presenting the award, CP Ojajuni praised the traditional ruler for his visionary leadership and unwavering support for law enforcement agencies.
The police boss reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to working closely with traditional institutions and local communities to foster peace and public safety.
The event attracted a diverse gathering of stakeholders, including traditional rulers such as the Olu of Agaolowo, HRM Oba Kayode Adio Kusoro; executive representatives from Dangote Cement Plc; as well as delegates from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the Ibese Muslim Community, youth and women groups, and local Hausa and Igbo ethnic unions.
