The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ondo State chapter, has congratulated Sunshine Queens Football Club on their promotion to the elite division of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL).
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Segun Giwa, and Secretary, Joseph Adesuyan, the association hailed the Akure-based club for what it described as a “remarkable turnaround” that reflects the dedication, resilience, and talent of the players, coaching crew, and management throughout the championship playoffs.
SWAN also commended the leadership of the Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA) under Chairman Divine Ogbonnaya, applauding the synergy that helped the team achieve promotion.
“This promotion is not just a triumph for Sunshine Queens, it is also a beacon of progress for women’s football in Ondo State,” the statement read.
The association urged the team to remain focused, consistent, and hungry for success as they prepare to compete with the best in the NWFL elite division.
SWAN further charged the players to make Ondo State proud by entertaining fans and competing with passion, professionalism, and a winning mentality.
