The All Progressives Congress (APC) has intensified its early political momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections as key Northern stakeholders, state governors, and campaign strategists lined up behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid. In a series of coordinated moves across the North West and North Central regions, the party underscored its commitment to grassroots mobilization, regional endorsement, and nationwide campaign preparations.
In Kaduna State, Governor Uba Sani moved to bolster the party’s local machinery by distributing vehicles to APC party chairmen across the Zone 3 local government areas. Presenting the vehicles on Saturday in Kaduna, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Sadiq Mamman Lagos, stated that the initiative was designed to empower local leadership to reach rural wards and mobilize support for President Tinubu, Governor Sani, and other party candidates.
Highlighting Kaduna’s strategic political clout in Northern Nigeria, Mamman Lagos appealed to Northern voters to respect the political understanding on power rotation by supporting the Tinubu administration through its second term, noting that the North had previously completed eight years under former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Expressing gratitude for the support, Kaduna State APC Chairman, Hon. Atiku Sankey, noted that the vehicle distribution replicated a successful strategy used before the 2023 elections. Sankey directed local chairmen to utilize the transport strictly for party mobilization across the state’s 23 local government areas and 255 wards. He assured the public that the APC would execute a peaceful, issue-based campaign centered on the administration’s policy achievements while adhering strictly to constitutional provisions.
Meanwhile, in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, political leaders and governors from the six North Central states, along with the Federal Capital Territory, formally endorsed President Tinubu as their sole presidential candidate for 2027 during a mega rally organized by the party. The motion for endorsement was moved by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, and seconded by Nasarawa State Governor and Chairman of the North Central Progressive Governors Forum, Engineer Abdullahi Sule. The motion was unanimously adopted by acclamation before a high-profile audience that included First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu and Progressive Governors Forum Chairman Hope Uzodimma.
Addressing the crowd, Akume and Governor Sule cited major economic reforms, infrastructure development, fiscal federalism, increased revenues to subnational governments, and the establishment of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund as compelling achievements justifying a second term. Senator Oluremi Tinubu commended the administration’s bold decision-making and transition toward economic prosperity, calling on party supporters to carry the message of these reforms directly to their local communities.
Concurrently, the APC Presidential Campaign Council, led by its Director-General, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, briefed President Tinubu on the upcoming timetable for campaign operations. Yari announced that the campaign council will officially inaugurate its activities on October 20, followed by a national campaign flag-off in Kaduna State on Saturday, October 24. Calling on state chapters, coordinators, and youth groups to begin immediate mobilization, Yari affirmed that following the Kaduna launch, the campaign team will embark on a nationwide tour covering all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to consolidate political support ahead of the 2027 polls.
