What was billed as the definitive resolution to a long-standing celebrity feud dissolved into ring controversy on Friday night at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Victoria Island, as Nollywood actor Charles Okocha was declared winner of his rematch against street-pop artist Habeeb “Portable” Okikiola by disqualification.
The bout, marketed under the banner “Unfinished Business,” broke down early in the opening round when an exchange of punches devolved into an unscripted wrestling scuffle on the canvas. Officials and security personnel were forced to step into the ring to separate the two fighters.
Following the opening round, Portable abruptly exited the ring and left the venue. Despite later returning to contend that grounding his opponent constituted a win, fight officials ruled that he had forfeited the match by abandoning the ring, officially awarding the victory to Okocha.
In a post-fight response, Portable rejected the disqualification, alleging that Okocha engaged in dirty tactics by biting and choking him during the scramble. Portable further accused the event organizers of breaching their contract by failing to send him to the United Kingdom for pre-fight training camp as promised.
The decision evens the overall series between the two media personalities at 1–1 following Portable’s original victory in December 2023.
