Governor Dapo Abiodun has unveiled his preferred successor ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State, following the emergence of a consensus candidate within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The announcement, which comes after a series of consultations and strategic engagements with party stakeholders, signals the governor’s intention to ensure continuity of his administration’s policies and developmental agenda beyond his tenure.
Party sources disclosed that the decision was reached after evaluating interested aspirants based on competence, capacity, and alignment with the vision of the current administration, with the aim of presenting a united front in the forthcoming election.
The APC leadership in the state said the move reflects growing cohesion within the party and its readiness to consolidate on the progress recorded in recent years.
Governor Abiodun expressed confidence that the party’s choice would sustain ongoing developmental strides and deliver greater dividends of democracy to the people of Ogun State.
He also called on party members to remain disciplined, law-abiding, and committed to the collective goal of securing victory in the 2027 governorship election.
