The Management of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has announced an immediate and total ban on the activities of the Faith Heroic Group (FHG) and NeoLife across all its campuses.
In an internal memorandum released on January 29, 2026, and signed by the University Registrar, Mr. C.O. Adeleye, the institution categorized the groups as “proscribed,” citing their operations as detrimental to the peace and academic focus of the student body.
The university management revealed that the decision followed investigations into the groups’ recruitment patterns and operational methods. According to the memo, the activities of FHG and NeoLife have created serious discomfort, fear, unnecessary tension, and unwarranted pressure among students. The university further clarified that neither group is registered with the institution, making their operations on campus illegal under current school regulations.
While FHG markets itself as a youth empowerment and digital skill development hub, it is widely recognized as a high-pressure recruitment arm for NeoLife, a multi-level marketing (MLM) company.
Reports from the campus suggest that students were being lured with promises of financial independence and entrepreneurial success, often leading them to prioritize recruitment over their studies.
In several instances, students reportedly diverted tuition fees to purchase expensive products and “business kits” to move up the groups’ ranks, leading to financial distress and academic decline.
The Registrar’s memo warned that the ban is effective immediately and all students have been directed to stay clear of any meetings, seminars, or activities organized by these groups.
The statement emphasized that any student found to be involved with these proscribed groups will face serious penalties in accordance with the University’s rules and regulations.
Security agencies on campus have been put on high alert to enforce the directive and ensure the peaceful academic atmosphere of the university is maintained.
