Students of the Ondo State College of Health Technology, Akure, on Monday took to the streets in a dramatic protest, directly indicting Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s administration for the deplorable state of the institution.
The protesters barricaded the college’s main entrance, set tires ablaze, and chanted solidarity songs, effectively bringing all academic activities to a halt. With banners and placards, they condemned what they described as years of exploitation, extortion, and neglect by the state government.
Students lamented the crumbling classrooms, dilapidated hostels, poorly equipped laboratories, and chronic lack of water supply, blaming the government for failing to invest in critical infrastructure.
Speaking to reporters, several students accused the administration of allowing “unjustifiable charges” to be levied on them while providing little or no improvement in facilities. They warned that no lectures or examinations would take place until the government intervened and addressed their grievances.
The protest, which drew attention across the city, paints a stark picture of educational neglect under Aiyedatiwa’s government, raising serious questions about the state of public institutions and the welfare of students in Ondo State.
