The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 37-year-old ex-convict, Omokinwa Ademola, for allegedly killing his girlfriend, Joy Jimoh, during a heated dispute over the refund of ₦100,000.
According to police sources, the tragic incident occurred on October 7, 2025, at the suspect’s residence in Idanre, Ondo State.
What began as a quarrel over money quickly turned violent when Ademola allegedly assaulted Joy repeatedly, leaving her unconscious. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but was later confirmed dead by a medical practitioner.
Acting on a swift tip-off, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Idanre led a team of detectives to the scene, resulting in the prompt arrest of the suspect. The deceased’s body has been deposited at the morgue for post-mortem examination, while investigations are ongoing.
Confirming the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, psc+, mnips, described the act as a senseless case of domestic violence and vowed that justice would be pursued to its logical conclusion.
The Commissioner directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for discreet investigation, assuring that the Command remains resolute in its fight against gender-based violence and crime in general.
CP Lawal also commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, for his unwavering support and operational guidance, which have strengthened proactive policing across the state.
He urged residents to remain law-abiding and to promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police formation for immediate action.
