An Ikorodu Magistrate Court in Lagos has directed that a Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) test be carried out on Liam Aloba, the son of the late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, widely known as Mohbad.
The order followed an application filed by Mohbad’s father, Mr. Joseph Aloba, who raised concerns about the paternity of the child.
In his application, filed through his counsel, Augustine Adegbemi of Dr. Wahab Shittu (SAN) & Co., Mr. Aloba requested that DNA samples be taken from the remains of the late singer at the Military Hospital, Yaba, for comparison with that of Master Liam.
The respondent, Mrs. Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba, the widow of the deceased, was represented in court by Kabir Akingbolu. Her counsel did not oppose the application.
Delivering her ruling on Tuesday, Magistrate Adefisoye Sonuga directed that two separate DNA tests be conducted in accredited and recognised medical facilities, one within Nigeria and another abroad.
The court further ordered that both parties or their representatives must be present during the collection of samples.
Mr. Aloba, in his filings, argued that determining the true paternity of Master Liam is crucial to issues relating to the child’s welfare and the respondent’s maintenance obligations.
The matter has been adjourned to November 11, 2025, for further proceedings.
