Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has charged the state’s athletes to make history at the 22nd National Sports Festival by surpassing their best-ever performance.
Speaking during a surprise visit to the Team Ondo camp at Babcock University in Abeokuta on Monday, the Governor encouraged the contingent to aim higher than the 4th position Ondo’s best result in the festival’s history.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, who was present at the official opening of the Gateway Games at MKO Abiola International Stadium on Sunday, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sports development and assured the athletes of his full support.
“You must put in your best. We are here to support you and cheer you on. This festival could be the stepping stone to a greater career for many of you,” he said.
The athletes expressed gratitude for the governor’s visit and pledged to bring home a strong medal haul.
The festival, which runs from May 16 to 30, features a wide range of sporting events, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima emphasizing sports as a tool for unity during the opening ceremony.
