Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting agribusiness and local farmers through strategic partnerships and improved infrastructure.
He made this known while receiving the management of the Benin-Owena River Basin Development Authority (BORBDA), led by its Managing Director, Dr. Olufemi Adekanmbi, in Akure.
Governor Aiyedatiwa pledged to work closely with the Authority to boost food production, enhance water resource management, and address security challenges affecting farmers.
He revealed plans to create designated farming zones for displaced farmers and to reclaim encroached agricultural lands through dialogue with traditional leaders.
He also lauded BORBDA’s contributions, including the completion of the Owena Dam, and expressed optimism in the new leadership’s capacity to drive meaningful change.
The Governor further highlighted ongoing efforts to provide clean water to Akure and surrounding communities under a World Bank-supported project.
Dr. Adekanmbi, in his remarks, aligned BORBDA’s goals with the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and sought the state’s support in resolving land disputes and activating major agricultural and water infrastructure across Ondo State.
