The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward 5, Ifon, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, Nelson Adepoyigi, has been reportedly killed by his abductors after being kidnapped from his residence. Despite a ₦5 million ransom and food items being delivered for his release, the kidnappers murdered Adepoyigi but released two individuals who delivered the ransom.
Initially demanding ₦100 million, the kidnappers reduced the ransom to ₦5 million. They later detained the ransom bearers and demanded an additional ₦30 million for the release of all three captives.
Chairman of Ose LGA, Hon. Barr. Clement Kolapo Ojo, confirmed the tragic incident in a statement, mourning Adepoyigi’s death and highlighting the growing security challenges in the area.
The Ondo State Police Command has yet to officially confirm the killing, but Commissioner of Police Wilfred Afolabi stated that detectives have been deployed to investigate the case.
