The Oluoke of Oke-Igbo Kingdom, Oba Akintoye Adeoye, has bestowed the prestigious chieftaincy title of Iyalode of Oke-Igbo Kingdom on Mrs. Funmilola Ademoyegun, honouring her decades of community service, leadership, and dedication to grassroots development.
Oke-Igbo, a historic community in the Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, celebrated the elevation of Mrs. Ademoyegun, described as an astute community developer, retired health professional, and seasoned grassroots mobilizer, during a ceremony announced through a statement by the Deputy Director-General, Media and Communications, Temitope Olatunji.
According to the statement, the recognition reflects Mrs. Ademoyegun’s “exemplary service, immense contributions, and unwavering commitment” to the socio-economic and cultural advancement of Oke-Igbo.
As Iyalode, she becomes a foremost female leader and custodian of women’s interests in the kingdom, tasked with mobilizing and representing women and offering counsel on issues affecting their welfare and development.
A retired Matron, Mrs. Ademoyegun also holds the title of Yeye Aṣa Gbogbo Agbaye, conferred by the Igbimo Iyun Agbaye. Her influence extends into the political sphere, having served in various capacities within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State.
She previously worked as Senior Special Adviser on Primary Healthcare under former Governor Dr. Olusegun Mimiko and also served as Chairman of the Ondo State Neighbourhood Market. Additionally, she completed a tenure as Southern Senatorial Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Her conferment as Iyalode marks yet another milestone in a career defined by service, leadership, and unwavering commitment to community growth.
