Edo Queens have emerged champions of the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) for the 2025/26 season after playing out a goalless draw against Bayelsa Queens in the decisive final round of the Premiership Super Six playoffs at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Sunday.
Needing only a point to secure the title, coach Moses Aduku’s side produced a disciplined performance to finish top of the Super Six standings with 10 points from five matches. Bayelsa Queens and Nasarawa Amazons ended the competition with eight points each.
The triumph marks Edo Queens’ second NWFL title in three seasons and further cements their status among the dominant teams in Nigerian women’s football.
It also made Aduku the first coach to win three league titles in six seasons with two different clubs, having previously guided Bayelsa Queens to glory before leading Edo Queens to championship success in 2024 and 2026.
In other final-day fixtures, Nasarawa Amazons shared the spoils with Rivers Angels, while Abia Angels and FC Robo Queens also settled for a draw.
Following their league triumph, Edo Queens will now represent Nigeria at the WAFU-B Women’s Champions League qualifiers, where they will seek a place at the CAF Women’s Champions League.
