The Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) 2026 Inter-Campus Publicity Committee (IN-CPC), Comrade Omotayo Oladele Samuel, has reaffirmed the commitment of Nigerian students to support the fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking in the country following a strategic engagement with the leadership of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency
The meeting, held under the leadership of the NDLEA Chairman, Mohammed Buba Marwa, focused on strengthening collaboration between the student body and the agency in addressing the growing menace of substance abuse among youths.
Speaking after the meeting, Samuel noted that the engagement provided a platform to explore practical and sustainable strategies to curb the rising rate of drug abuse in Nigeria, particularly among young people. He stressed the need for intensified advocacy, education, and enforcement to tackle the challenge effectively.
He commended the NDLEA for its proactive initiatives and unwavering commitment to protecting the future of Nigerian youths through nationwide campaigns and enforcement operations.
Samuel further assured that NANS, through its IN-CPC structure, would actively support the agency’s ongoing efforts by mobilizing students across campuses for awareness campaigns and community-based interventions.
He expressed confidence that a unified approach between stakeholders, including student bodies and law enforcement agencies, would significantly reduce the prevalence of drug abuse and contribute to building a safer, healthier society.
The NANS chairman concluded by emphasizing that collective responsibility and sustained collaboration remain key to achieving a drug-free Nigeria.
