The Chairman of Akure North Local Government, Johnson Ogunbolude, has called on residents to support government efforts to tackle insecurity, following recent attacks in Imafon, Igushin and Ilado communities.
Ogunbolude described the incidents as unfortunate, noting that although Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa was out of the state at the time, he maintained constant communication with community leaders and security agencies.
The council boss urged residents to cooperate with authorities by providing credible information that could aid ongoing security operations, stressing that collective responsibility remains key to restoring peace in the affected areas.
Meanwhile, Governor Aiyedatiwa visited the communities to assess the situation and commiserate with victims, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to flushing out criminal elements and safeguarding lives and property.
He disclosed that security agencies, in collaboration with local hunters and vigilantes, were intensifying efforts to secure the forests and surrounding communities, while plans were underway to establish additional security posts to enhance surveillance and response time.
