A severe political crisis has erupted within the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) following the appointment of Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, as the state campaign chief for President Bola Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council.
Outraged national leaders, key chieftains, and grassroots stakeholders of APGA have openly revolted against the arrangement, vehemently rejecting any alliance with the ruling APC and declaring that their party will not serve as a proxy vehicle for the President’s re-election.
The rebellion follows assertions from Soludo’s camp that APGA would adopt a “progressives working together” strategy, supporting Tinubu at the federal level while fielding independent candidates for national and state legislative seats.
Furious party elders and stakeholders have forcefully denounced the cross-party arrangement, warning that surrendering APGA’s institutional campaign structure to the APC destroys the party’s historical identity and betrays its foundational values.
In a direct challenge to Governor Soludo’s leadership, the protesting faction announced plans to formally break away from the governor’s directives and endorse the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), arguing that the NDC platform better reflects the true political aspirations and economic interests of Anambra State and the wider South East region.
The widespread revolt poses a formidable obstacle to Governor Soludo’s pledge to mobilize total support across Anambra to secure victory for President Tinubu in 2027, as APGA now faces deep internal division and potential implosion over the controversial political alignment.
