The Nigerian football community has been thrown into deep mourning following the tragic passing of Katsina United defender Benjamin Chinedu Ozor, who collapsed during a pre-season friendly against Niger Tornadoes at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina.
The defender suddenly lost consciousness during the match and was immediately given medical attention on the pitch before being rushed to the hospital, where efforts to save his life were tragically unsuccessful.
Ozor had only recently rejoined Katsina United ahead of the upcoming Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season after spending the previous campaign with Kano Pillars. Over the course of a distinguished domestic career, the rugged defender earned a solid reputation across the league while featuring for several top clubs, including Sunshine Stars, Lobi Stars, Abia Warriors, and Heartland FC.
The sudden news of his demise has left teammates, opponents, and stakeholders across the NPFL in complete shock as condolences continue to pour in for his family, friends, and the entire Katsina United club.
