The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has intensified its post-primary reconciliation drive, aimed at consolidating party unity and building a formidable front ahead of upcoming electoral contests.
As part of ongoing peace and engagement initiatives, a party delegation led by the Ondo State APC Chairman, Hon. Kolawole Babatunde, paid a courtesy visit to prominent chieftain and former senatorial aspirant, Dr. Sylvester Olumuyiwa Adu, at his Alagbaka residence in Akure.
Speaking during the visit, Hon. Babatunde explained that reaching out to key stakeholders and aspirants after primary elections remains a vital internal tradition to heal differences, align interests, and reposition the party for future victories. Describing Dr. Adu as a foundational pillar and an influential grassroots leader, the State Chairman emphasized the need to keep all vital party structures actively engaged.
He noted that although Dr. Adu is not among those aggrieved by the outcome, his strategic leadership and network remain indispensable as the party prepares to mobilize one million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
In his response, Dr. Olumuyiwa Adu reaffirmed his loyalty to the party and the administration of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa. Declaring that he harbors no grudges over the outcome of the recently concluded senatorial primary, Dr. Adu revealed that his political alignment with Governor Aiyedatiwa was rooted in conviction and spiritual guidance.
He disclosed that despite lucrative political offers, including deputy governorship slots from opposing camps during the governorship primary, he chose to follow divine direction, maintaining that leadership comes only through God’s approval.
Dr. Adu added that he has consistently deployed personal resources to build the APC across the state and urged members to treat the primary election as past history. To demonstrate his commitment to party harmony, he volunteered to join the state exco’s reconciliation team to help bring other dissatisfied members back into the fold.
He also advocated for greater openness, transparency, and internal communication in future party activities, suggesting that clear national directives regarding incumbent lawmakers seeking re-election could minimize internal friction.
As a concrete pledge toward upcoming mobilization campaigns, Dr. Adu announced plans to personally sponsor the custom branding of several campaign vehicles for the APC. He concluded by reassuring his political supporters and the general public of his unwavering allegiance to the APC, pledging to keep working for the stability and triumph of the party.
