The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ondo South Senatorial District has officially flagged off its political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, resolving to drive an aggressive grassroots mobilization campaign across the region.
The decision was reached during the party’s maiden senatorial meeting held on Monday, August 3, 2026, in Okitipupa, which drew key political stakeholders, party executives, and delegates from all six local government areas in Ondo South.
Addressing attendees at the meeting, the National Vice Chairman of the NDC, Hon. Tunde Alli, emphasized that securing victory in the 2027 elections remains an absolute priority for the party at all levels of governance.
He urged party faithfuls to immediately return to their respective wards and begin intense voter sensitization and grassroots engagement to consolidate the party’s presence in the zone.
In a key branding directive aimed at unifying candidate messaging across the district, the national leadership made it mandatory for all aspirants and supporters to feature the photograph of the party’s Presidential Candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, prominently on all campaign collateral.
According to the directive, any individual or aspirant producing banners, flyers, posters, or branded vests must ensure Mr. Obi’s image is boldly displayed.
During the deliberations, party leader Hon. Sola Ebiwonjumi raised concerns regarding internal party issues, specifically highlighting the high cost of nomination forms.
He appealed to the national executive council to review the pricing structure downward to enable broader participation and encourage more grassroots members to contest under the party’s banner. In response, Hon. Alli reassured delegates that the national leadership would address all raised concerns and communicate a resolution in due course.
The inaugural meeting was formally declared open by the Senatorial Secretary, Pastor Ewi Olumide Bobby, while the Senatorial Chairman, Asiwaju Bernard Adedayo, delivered the vote of thanks, commending delegates for their steadfastness and commitment to building the party.
Among the notable leaders present at the assembly were National Vice Chairman Hon. Tunde Alli, Ondo South Senatorial Candidate Barr. Myson Nejo, Ondo South Senatorial Chairman Asiwaju Bernard Adedayo, State Organizing Secretary Rev. Alli, Party Leader Hon. Sola Ebiwonjumi, and Senatorial Secretary Pastor Ewi Olumide Bobby, alongside several House of Assembly candidates and ward executives from across the six local government areas.
