•••Police Launch Investigation After 10-Year-Old Girl is Hospitalized Following Horrific Torture Incident Involving Hot Iron
The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Amos Paul following a disturbing incident of child abuse that has sparked widespread outrage in the Upenme community of Owo Local Government Area. The suspect is alleged to have inflicted severe burns on his 10-year-old biological daughter using a hot pressing iron.
Preliminary investigations suggest the attack was carried out as a form of retribution for the child bedwetting. The extreme severity of the injuries sustained required immediate medical intervention, and the young victim is currently receiving emergency care at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Owo.
The arrest, which was executed on Thursday, July 16, 2026, has drawn sharp condemnation from law enforcement authorities and community leaders alike. DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest and stated that the case has been officially transferred to the command’s Gender Unit for a comprehensive and discreet investigation.
”This is a cruel, inhumane and unacceptable act,” stated Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Felix Ohagwu, in a strong reaction to the incident.
The Command has reiterated its unwavering commitment to ensuring that perpetrators of child abuse and domestic violence are prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
As the investigation continues, authorities are urging community members to remain vigilant and report any instances of child abuse or domestic violence immediately.
