The self-styled Director-General of the non-existent Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Adeniyi Adeyemi, has been arrested by security operatives following a warrant issued by the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Adeyemi’s arrest comes weeks after he made explosive allegations against the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, claiming he paid hundreds of millions of naira through intermediaries to secure his appointment and was later asked to provide additional funds.
He also alleged that a percentage of the agency’s proposed take-off grant was demanded as part of the arrangement.
The allegations sparked widespread public debate, with some political stakeholders and civil society groups calling for an independent investigation and urging the Chief of Staff to step aside pending the outcome of any probe.
The Presidency, however, dismissed the claims, insisting that the PFIPC is a fictitious organisation and that Adeyemi fraudulently presented himself as the head of a non-existent government agency.
Officials accused him of forgery, impersonation and using fake government documents to seek official recognition.
Adeyemi is expected to be arraigned before the Federal High Court to answer charges related to alleged forgery, impersonation and obtaining by false pretence.
