The Chairman of Akure North Local Government, Hon. Ogunbolude Johnson, has extended warm felicitations to the Paramount Ruler of Iju Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Amos Adelakun Farukanmi, the Okiti of Iju, and the entire people of Oke-Iju Quarters on the occasion of the 2026 Opa Festival.
In a goodwill message issued on Sunday, the council chairman expressed gratitude to Almighty God for granting the people of Iju Kingdom the opportunity to witness yet another edition of the annual cultural celebration, which he described as a symbol of the community’s rich heritage, unity, and tradition.
Hon. Ogunbolude prayed for God’s continued protection, peace, and prosperity over the royal father, the people of Iju Kingdom, and the entire Akure North Local Government Area.
He noted that the Opa Festival remains an important cultural event that promotes communal harmony and preserves the customs and values of the people.
The chairman, however, cautioned against any form of violence or activities capable of disrupting the peaceful atmosphere of the celebration.
He urged residents, youths, and visitors to conduct themselves responsibly and ensure that the festival is celebrated in an atmosphere of love, peace, and mutual respect.
He also welcomed guests and tourists from within and outside Ondo State who had come to participate in the festival, encouraging them to respect the cultural traditions of the host community and contribute to a successful and memorable celebration.
Hon. Ogunbolude concluded by wishing the people of Iju Kingdom a happy Opa Festival, praying that the celebration would bring renewed blessings, greater unity, and continuous development to the ancient kingdom.
He further prayed that the sacrifices and prayers offered during the festival would be accepted, while expressing optimism that Iju Kingdom would continue to experience peace, growth, and lasting progress.
