The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 Ogun State election, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, has intensified consultations ahead of the polls with separate visits to former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun in Abeokuta.
During the visit to the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Adeola said he sought the blessings, guidance and moral support of the elder statesman as he prepares for the 2027 governorship election. He described the meeting as fruitful, noting that Obasanjo shared his expectations for the future of Ogun State and offered valuable advice on governance.
The APC candidate pledged to incorporate the former President’s recommendations into his administration’s plans and programmes if elected governor, stressing that the discussions centred on moving Ogun State forward through purposeful leadership and development.
Responding, Obasanjo urged Adeola to remain focused on his political ambition while seeking divine direction.
He prayed that the senator’s aspirations would align with God’s purpose and encouraged him to pursue his goals with determination while leaving the outcome to God and the people.
The former President also advised the governorship candidate to reach out to all segments of the electorate as the campaign gathers momentum.
Adeola later met with former Governor Amosun, whom he described as his political leader, saying the visit formed part of broader consultations aimed at strengthening unity within the APC ahead of the governorship contest.
The senator said Amosun had assured him of his understanding and support, adding that the party remained united and confident of victory in 2027.
In his remarks, Amosun called on APC members to avoid divisions and work together in the interest of the party and the state.
He maintained that what the people desired most was good governance, insisting that APC members should remain one family and continue to cooperate ahead of the election.
The twin visits are widely seen as part of Adeola’s ongoing consultations with influential political leaders and stakeholders across Ogun State as he consolidates support for his governorship ambition ahead of the 2027 election.
