Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, have arrested 46 suspects for various criminal offences, including a couple allegedly linked to the burglary of the residence of a former Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly.
The arrests were made during a series of intelligence-driven operations and raids carried out across different parts of the state as part of efforts to curb criminal activities and enhance public safety.
Addressing journalists in Akure, the State Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed that the suspects were apprehended for offences ranging from burglary, theft and armed robbery to other criminal acts.
According to Adeleye, operatives successfully recovered mobile phones and other valuables stolen during a break-in at the residence of the former Speaker.
He said investigations led security personnel to a couple suspected of receiving and concealing the stolen items, resulting in their arrest and the recovery of the exhibits.
The commander noted that the operation underscores the effectiveness of intelligence gathering and collaboration with members of the public in tracking criminal suspects and recovering stolen property.
He reiterated the commitment of the Amotekun Corps to sustaining its crackdown on criminal elements across the state, stressing that no effort would be spared in protecting lives and property.
Adeleye urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies, assuring that all information received would be treated with utmost confidentiality.
The suspects, he said, would be prosecuted upon the conclusion of investigations, while recovered items would be returned to their rightful owners after due legal procedures.
The latest arrests add to a series of recent security successes recorded by the corps in its ongoing campaign against kidnapping, robbery, burglary and other criminal activities across Ondo State.
