The Ondo State Director of the City Boy Movement, Mr. Femi Ayejusunle, has called on Nigerians to remain committed to the ideals of democracy and support ongoing efforts aimed at repositioning the country for sustainable growth and prosperity.
In a Democracy Day message commemorating the June 12 celebration, Ayejusunle described the occasion as a reminder of the collective struggle and sacrifices that culminated in the entrenchment of democratic governance in Nigeria.
According to him, Democracy Day provides an opportunity for citizens to reflect on the nation’s progress and renew their commitment to the principles of freedom, justice, equality, and good governance.
“Despite the challenges confronting our country, democracy remains the most credible path to national development, peaceful coexistence and active citizens’ participation in governance. We must remain committed to protecting and strengthening our democratic values,” he said.
The City Boy Movement leader urged members of the organisation and Nigerians at large to align themselves with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the administration’s reforms are designed to lay the foundation for long-term economic growth and national prosperity.
He commended the Federal Government’s policies on economic recovery, infrastructure development, youth empowerment and national security, stressing that the gains of the reforms would require patience and collective sacrifice.
Ayejusunle also appealed to Nigerian youths to remain hopeful, patriotic and actively involved in the democratic process, saying their participation is vital to building a just and prosperous society.
He further paid tribute to the heroes of democracy whose sacrifices, he said, have sustained the nation’s democratic institutions over the years.
The City Boy Movement director expressed optimism that with unity and commitment, Nigeria would overcome its challenges and achieve the aspirations of its citizens.
He wished Nigerians a peaceful Democracy Day celebration and prayed for continued peace, unity and progress in the country.
