Nigerian clubs Enyimba and Remo Stars are among teams expected to benefit from FIFA’s $355 million Club Benefits Programme tied to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The initiative, approved by FIFA, is designed to reward clubs whose players participate in the expanded 48-team tournament scheduled to be hosted jointly by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Payments will be made to clubs based on the number of days their players spend with their respective national teams during the competition.
With several Nigerian players on the books of Enyimba and NPFL champions Remo Stars attracting attention ahead of the tournament, both clubs are in line to receive financial compensation should their players feature at the Mundial.
The Club Benefits Programme forms part of FIFA’s broader commitment to distributing revenues generated from the World Cup to clubs that contribute to the development and release of players for international duty.
The $355 million package represents a significant increase from previous editions and is expected to provide a major financial boost to clubs across the globe, including those from Africa.
