The Chairman of the Ondo State Football Agency, Mr. Divine Ogbonnaya, has applauded the players and technical crew of Sunshine Queens FC following their impressive qualification for the quarter-finals of the President Federation Cup.
Sunshine Queens continued their strong campaign under coach Tayo Onilude with a convincing 2-0 victory over Plateau United Ladies in their Round of 16 clash.
The Akure-based side took control of the game in the first half, breaking the deadlock in the 42nd minute through Aluba Ogba, who calmly finished off a well-worked move to give her side a deserved lead going into the break.
Sunshine Queens maintained their dominance in the second half and sealed the win in the 80th minute when Alehri Ayuba doubled the advantage, ensuring a comfortable passage into the last eight of the competition.
Reacting after the match, Ogbonnaya praised the team’s discipline, resilience, and tactical execution, while also commending the coaching crew for their consistency and structure.
He expressed satisfaction with the performance but urged the players to remain focused as tougher challenges lie ahead in their pursuit of silverware.
In a show of encouragement, the ODSFA chairman also rewarded the team with a cash bonus, boosting morale ahead of their next fixture.
