••• Aiyedatiwa, Oke, governors, party leaders rally support as APC targets landslide victory in 2027
Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday recorded massive victories by across several states in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election, securing overwhelming endorsements from party members in Ondo, Lagos, Ogun, Kano, Kogi, Edo, Imo and other states ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In Ondo State, President Tinubu polled 181,966 votes across the 18 local government areas, defeating fellow aspirant, Mr Stanley Osifo, who recorded zero votes in the exercise.
Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, who served as the Collation and Returning Officer, announced the result at The Dome in Akure after collating submissions from local government collation officers.
According to the governor, 193,334 APC members were registered for the exercise, while 181,996 members were accredited and participated in the primary election.
Tinubu recorded impressive votes across all local governments, including 15,864 votes in Akure South 15,320 votes in Ilaje, 14,333 votes in Ondo West, 13,313 votes in Owo and 12,257 votes in Odigbo Local Government Areas.
Governor Aiyedatiwa described the exercise as one of the most peaceful, transparent and successful primaries ever conducted in the state, noting that the outcome reflected the confidence party members have in President Tinubu’s leadership.
He declared that Ondo State remains fully aligned with the APC and revealed that the party is targeting one million votes for President Tinubu during the 2027 presidential election.
The governor commended party leaders, stakeholders and grassroots mobilisers for ensuring a hitch-free exercise, adding that the large turnout demonstrated growing support for the APC administration in the state.
Prominent APC leaders including Chief Olusola Oke, Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde, Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan and several members of the National Assembly openly rallied support for the President and urged party members to remain united ahead of the general elections.
In Lagos State, Tinubu also emerged victorious with a near-total sweep of votes across the state’s local government areas, as party leaders described the outcome as a reflection of confidence in the President’s economic reforms and infrastructural drive.
Similarly, APC members in Ogun State endorsed the President overwhelmingly, with Governor Dapo Abiodun describing Tinubu as “the stabilising force Nigeria needs at this critical period.”
In Kano State, party stakeholders and delegates pledged continued loyalty to the President, expressing optimism that the APC would retain power in 2027 due to ongoing economic and security reforms.
Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo also led party faithful in endorsing the President, assuring that the state would deliver massive votes for the APC during the next general election.
In Edo State, APC leaders said Tinubu’s overwhelming support during the primary demonstrated the party’s growing strength in the South-South region, while in Imo State, Governor Hope Uzodimma commended party members for their unity and commitment to the APC leadership.
Reports from other states including Kaduna, Kwara, Ekiti and Niger equally indicated strong support for the President, with party officials describing the nationwide exercise as peaceful and credible.
Speaking during the Ondo exercise, APC State Chairman, Hon. Babatunde Kolawole, commended party members for maintaining discipline and unity throughout the primary process.
He stated that the successful conduct of the presidential primary, alongside previous primaries for the Senate, House of Representatives and State Assembly, proved that the APC remained the most organised political party in the country.
Kolawole urged aspirants who lost in previous contests to continue supporting the party, stressing that unity remained the key to electoral victory.
Former Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, in his goodwill message, praised the growing collaboration between governors and the President, saying such partnership would strengthen governance and national development.
He also commended President Tinubu for appointing competent sons and daughters of Ondo State into strategic positions within the federal government.
