••• Governors, NWC, lawmakers, party stalwarts to attend Abuja event ahead of 2027 elections
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Sunday officially receive the certificate of return and the flag of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The presentation ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja following the nationwide collation of results from the APC presidential primary elections conducted across the country.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, the Presidential Primary Elections Committee of the APC will formally present the certificate and party flag to President Tinubu after the conclusion of the primary process which saw the President secure overwhelming victories in several states.
Top party leaders including APC governors, members of the National Executive Committee (NEC), the National Working Committee (NWC), members of the National Assembly and other party stalwarts are expected to attend the high-profile event.
The ceremony is expected to signal the formal commencement of the ruling party’s preparations for the 2027 presidential election as APC leaders continue consultations and mobilisation across the country.
Political observers say Tinubu’s emergence as the APC presidential candidate further consolidates his influence within the ruling party following widespread endorsements by governors, lawmakers and party stakeholders during the primary elections.
Meanwhile, security has reportedly been strengthened around major venues in Abuja ahead of Sunday’s presentation ceremony as party supporters from different states are expected to converge on the Federal Capital Territory for the event.
The APC leadership has also called on party members nationwide to remain united and committed to the party’s vision as preparations intensify for the 2027 elections.
